So I had a WILD idea tonight. To make a big bore 1377.......ya........
A long time ago I saw a 2240 converted to .50 using a copper pipe, and he used it to shoot birds with birdshot in the tube.
I may try converting my spare 1377 (yes I have a spare lol).
But I have a few questions,
1. I am going to use a piece of steel tube I find at tractor supply co.
2. Will the valve have available space to launch a lead slug maybe from .30 to .40 cal?
3. and since I will be casting my own bullets in a mold I make, does anyone know how I can rifle the slugs?

Thanks!

Wow, a 1377 canon!!!  I've tossed around the idea of possibly a .25 1377, it would take some logistics but it could probably be done.  Close range nutter basher!  :-* :D

As for your questions, I can't really answer any but do have some thoughts/suggestions;

Instead of heavy steel pipe couldn't you use thick walled aluminum tube?  It would be lighter and I don't think a 1377 is going to generate enough pressure in the "barrel" to do any damage.

Since you mentioned .40 and wanted to know how to rifle the slug couldn't you use a .410 shotgun slug?  I dont know if those come in a rifled version or not.

Good luck with your project, keep us posted and pics too! :-*

Nuts about airguns and just nuts in general...but I'm medicated.

sounds like a cool project
thats a heavy projectile you are planning on launching
with the right set up hopefully you will get over 300fps
closed mouths dont get fed

I found some thin walled aluminum tube at TSC, but it was over .6" and not in the .30-.40 range.
Never thought of using .410 slugs, thats always an option.

300 is stretching it I think, but you never know...
Maybe I will convert it to HPA with a LP-HV valve setup.

Does anyone know the stock valve pressure at like 12-15 pumps?

WyoMan

I know one guy on the green that measured valve opening force for each pump then pressure was calculated from the seat area (spring force subtracted):

This was a completely stock setup other than some reinforcement where the valve contacts the tube indent so should get you in the ballpark...

Thanks you so much! I guess it could handle 1400, since I sometimes pump mine to 30 pumps for fun.
Maybe 1500? Please give me your thoughts, guys!

iirc 1300psi
someone on the green put a gauge on their valve took pics of the gauge when the valve was filled this was about 3-4 years ago i saw the post so a lot searching would need to be done to find it

Thanks! An interesting idea.
You know CCI .22 shotshells are basically that. A plastic pill willed with shot on top of a case.
