Bought one of those Gamo Field Targets (squirrel).
I like it a lot.
Tried out the 1701P against it today.
20 Yards with the Hawke Red Dot.
(BTW, the red dot is much better now with a new battery).
This pistol was designed for silhouette at 18 yards.
7.9gr CPL at 460 fps barely has 3 ft lbs.
I was, as they say, hosing them down.
You know the 1701P has a Lothar Walther barrel.
If you look at these pellets you can see why that barrel is so good. Too, even at 460fps these pellets expanded nicely:

Nice family photo. I wonder what the squirrel looks like.

I thought you were tyring to sell that pistol. From your comments, I would hold on to it.

I often look at the flattened pellets shot from different pistols and wondered if one could judge the potency of the gun based on the magnitude of the flatness. I always shoot from the same distance which is about 9 yds. I could always tell from which gun the pellets had come from.

Steel plate makes a flattened pellet even at 350 fps, it's more the backstop than power. At 800 fps plus, the pellets will shatter on a steel plate.

No offers from anyone so.....
I will shoot it awhile then give it to Goodwill.
Then take $500.00 tax deduction.
