2240 mod

Also make sure you have a good pellet.  Personally I like to use the Polymag Predator for maximum penetration and explosive stopping power.

A rat??? Should depending on and I assume you will be fairly close.  Mine which is still stock is pushing 13.43 grain domes at just over 6 ft./lbs of energy which is plenty to kill a rat.

I think a 2240 would handle a rat with no problem.  I personally prefer to corner them and beat them to death with a baseball bat.  Also, if you live in the peoples republic of california  I believe it might be currently illegal to kill an animal with a lead pellet, so make sure to use lead free pellets so the lead police will leave you alone.

The Predator pellets are a very effective pellet and they shoot great from my 2240.

Yeah, because them smart California guys found out that lead "contains a chemical that can cause birth defects" !

If you're shooting from your kitchen door, I assume you are talking about your home.  If that's true you to get an exterminator in.  Rats & people don't mix dude

It would give you more of a sense of accomplishment to pound the crap out of that dirty rat with your baseball bat. (IMO)
