Hello friends....Has anyone here tried the relatively new BOSS BUDDY HIGH FLOW Transfer Port from Alchemy Airwerks? I just bought two from his eBay store. It seems to be a well thought out and functional transfer port alternative. I have installed one but I am waiting on other parts to complete and test.

Thanks for the heads up on the Transfer Port. Goin to have to try one myself! :-*

Didn't know Davio made those. Might have to add a couple to my Davio list. Thanks. :-*

Yeah, I suppose I ought to share more, but this is not a forum for my wares.  ;)

These have sold well and with excellent feedback and repeat orders. Only one person said they could not get it to work right, so it got returned and swapped out for the Boss (bored out to about .160) transfer ports instead.  I put the unused return in one of my guns still in need and no problem at all.  ???

Pardon my ignorance, but this is simply the gasket /apparatus between the tube and barrel (which is inside the breech), yeah?

Yes and no.  The stock apparatus is the transfer port and the transfer gasket.  The stock transfer port is of less ID than this... and it does not have a positive seal between the top of the transfer port and the barrel port.

This part replaces both of the stock parts.  It's ID is about 25% larger area that stays the same (stainless steel) between the valve and the barrel.  The Viton sheath is slightly longer so that it can compress to seal both top and bottom with no worries of changind the ID of the stainless tube.  Somebody in UK was making this and imo had it almost perfect.  He used brass and Viton.  Thin wall brass is not as strong as stainless and brass readily corrodes and tarnishes.  Stainless does not.

These are a pain in the butt to make.  If you think not, let me see how you cut lengths of stainless tubing and then get the height to within .005" of target with the ID maintaining spec. Now do the same for the viton tubing.  Wife: "What are all these hundreds of little o-rings all over the floor?"  Me, with surgical scissors in my hand: "Those are my trimmings from getting this tubing just right."

I have read quite a bit about airflow and pressure in airguns over the past few years across several forums/websites. I am only starting to better understand this one piece of the design factors that have an effect on performance and efficiency. What are the benefits to swapping out your TP for the standard one in a 13xx or 22xx gun? Can you share any performance numbers for .177 and .22 cal using your TP? Would this TP have a greater affect with a performance-optimized valve?

Not looking for one, but curious as to why you won't ship to Canada?

For cutting the viton tube....make a jig with a hole the correct depth...insert a dowel in a piece of viton tubing...insert this "assembly" into jig...cut off with razor blade by turning the tube/dowel. Re-position...repeat.

Use a piece of rod inside the tubing...something like .001-.002" less than id of stainless tubing. Chuck in the lathe (collet chuck?)...use a tool post grinder (dremel) with cutoff disks to part off tubing. Quick de-burr and part is done. (Make a batch and run through a vibratory case polisher???)

What I would try at any rate. :)

and how does it compare to using 1/4 inch refrigerator water line with a .170 inside diameter ?

I'll work my way backwards.  The fact that I named it Boss Buddy somewhat hints at the fact that it will pair best with an enhanced valve. Its main feature and intention is to provide a smooth sealed link between valve exhaust and the barrel port. It will not bend in on itself like slightly too long icemaker line can.  It is oversized so that whether on a stock valve or the usual enhanced valve it will not be a restriction or pinch in the chain. Period.

Since I do not view this as a performance enhancer, I will not be worrying about (or sucked into) the "numbers" game since they are meaningless without exacting comparison of standards to other. And my other is different than your other.  And my chrony and your chrony may both be liars! I am just saying that if anybody thinks the intention of this part is to add blah blah fps, then they have missed the point (and may very well be in the lower half of the population's IQ bell curve).  :o Again, its mission is to better seal an exhaust path with an unyielding ID that is not a restriction.  If you would like to see claims of optimal diameter this or amount of less turbulence that... well, it ain't happening on this part.  It is what it is (non-restrictive unyielding seal) and it's not what it's not (the missing link to getting your 1322 to 900 fps).  ;)

On the pump guns, I did get a report that it raised somebody's sweet spot (point at which they begin to get leftover valve air) 3 pumps. I am skeptical. Makes me think they had a problem before they installed this part.  But the dozens of other reports that it is sealed up and they like it... eh, I can believe that.  It is doing its job.  :)

Good ideas, Al!  I like the Viton jig!
I have already got the riggings for a mini diamond blade cut off that can zip through this stuff before the heat and the edge curling of the parting / cut line does its harm (requiring reaming to regain its original ID).

I tried Canada, but your customs guys bust balls for a living.  Much worse than UK, France, Greece, Australia.  Yeah, I would ship something like this but if it looks anything like a gun part they seem to have a beef. Now I only ship to Canada when somebody contacts me.  Just not automatic on eBay or Amazon.

Well, -.010" on the one hand (if the icemaker line is exactly .170")
...unyielding tube material on the other.

I've read that document, but it really does not demonstrate that changes to the transfer sleeve material or ID had any impact on performance. That fellow modded an entire gun, so all of the changes combined produced an improvement in performance.

Davio basically explained it best in his post above. His part is an one-piece, durable solution that is easy to install. It replaces two parts in the OEM system. It likely has little to no effect on performance.

A lot of tinkerers port things for the sake of porting, but many times results are not what were expected. Sometimes opening up the breathing pathway can hinder performance, particularly in .177 caliber. I did not know if using a transfer sleeve with a slightly larger ID in a system not optimized for airflow would cause a noticeable change in the performance of a particular pistol.

Guys, We all know that if David is selling these and he said it works, Well it works. We all know his work and are all so proud to see him in the parts bussiness. There are getting to be so few left.
Great job David and thanks for your hard work so we can keep moding and improve our Air Guns. :-* :-*

All true. Necessity is the mother of invention, but few have the time and/or talent to tackle the "need" part, starting with pure "trial and error" production. Those with time and talent fill serious voids many have pursuing this very addictive hobby, and it is very hard to put a price on that!
