What if the gun was warm and cozy inside, how many decent shots will one get? When I go to the shooting cabin in the winter I often keep the cartridges in my pants pockets while outside - I wonder if this helps at all...  ???

Also depends how cold it is!

Today I would say - one shot
The next shots will all print a line straight down. If it won't group it's not worth shooting, so shoot out the back door of the cabin and keep your gun warm

Shoot out an open window.  The house stays warmer and you have a built in rest. Works best sitting down, and you can get real comfy. Also helps if your girlfriend joins you.
But seriously, we  had a nice time shooting yesterday in Bay Minette, AL.
