I didn't want to pester him. I just thought someone else may be working on something that would give some ideas for later. With as many airguns as you have, you are bound to have something being taken apart and made better.

Yes, I do have that I have taken apart and made better, but I build pumpers. I have 2, 2240s, still stock. Too noisy to shoot in the garage. I do pumpers.

Good to learn that you are one into the pumpers! As of now I'm more interested in multi pumps over gas guns because of my needs. To me it's easier to adjust # of pumps for given shooting rather than tweaking power adjusters. Of course this is all opinion as I've yet to build a great version of either......

Got some work done on the garage today, pulled the siding off the back wall, got to strip that wall to replace the foundation under it... Then reassemble, install a window, insulate then skin the inside wall, then I get to install the wood stove. After that I can finally install shelves and another workbench to put things away so I don't have stupid boxes around anymore. That'll free me up to rebuild the engine for my Ford Ranger, then I get to start doing fun projects hopefully.

Scott, That's real work. I enclosed our back porch last year, so I feel for you.....you're doing real work. I've got one workbench out there, but it is a far cry from a real shop.

Pumpers are fun and my preference, I once found a Crosman Recruit on Craigslist for cheap, made a flat top piston for it, flat topped the valve, slightly drilled out the intake port, put a pin in the face of the piston to go in that hole and take up space, pinned the valve to the tube, ported the exhaust port, ground on the valve stem and valve, and installed a rifled barrel. With all that it makes 750fps on 10 pumps but retains air there, if you pump it 15 times you get a 750fps shot and a 550fps shot I think

Just a note on some things, I think my investment on the 7x12 metal lathe for $250 on Craigslist about 9 years ago has been worth every penny over the years, it has allowed me to make all upgrades I've done, other than the cost of the airguns themselves, my labor time, and some materials I don't have any extra money into modifications, other than extra parts from Crosman themselves or used stuff from classifieds... In the past few years I've made 4 flat top pistons and flat topped the valves to go with them, and a couple flat top adapters for Crosman 140's I think (at least one)

J, everyone is an expert on these things compared to me. So Scott, you're on the list of experts too now. I've wanted a lathe and mill for years. I can just imagine all the metal I could destroy with them. Now you have me wanting to look at classified ads for a used lathe. I knew I shouldn't have gotten a new hobby and joined this forum....it's a black hole and I'm in it's gravity field.....help!!!!

BTW, I read on a thread somewhere that the newer 1377's aren't as desirable as the previous version. How do you tell the difference?

The main change that isn't as desirable is the aluminum valves where they used to be brass, I don't remember the year they changed but it's probably around '01 to '05, the only real difference is corrosion resistance so not a huge deal as long as it holds pressure

I got the lathe when I was big into RC airplanes, that hobby has lacked attention since I bought a house last april... I've used the lathe to make adapters to run weedeater engines on big rc airplanes, made a turnbuckle for a big RC car, used it for a bunch of random stuff at work (it lived there for almost a year), and I'm sure the list will go on.

Gary, if you're only a member here and no other AG forum there's still a little hope to break free of the AG gravity's pull....once you join another forum just give up, open your wallet and accept that your pockets will be consistently empty but you'll have a continuous supply of lead and an endless reading list to help with mods. Along with a great group to enable more "poor decisions" like buying more guns

Yea,what he said, I am thinking of taking one of my 2240 guns and turning into a 1740. More mods and more parts. It's like the bunny, it just keeps going and going. But hay, what else do we have to do?

Well, unfortunately I Joined a couple more airgun forums the other day......but I'm not very active there, at least for the time being. I feel the gravitational pull. I have a feeling my wife may have an anti-gravity belt though.....she threatened to beat me with it if I go overboard.

I need to find my airbrushes. I'm trying to decide on a color scheme. I'll most likely go with a baked on finish, but the color choices are limited. But, first things first....it has to shoot before it gets all dolled up.
