Im just a backyard plinker, but I cant seem to leave these guns alone...I have a 1377 and a 1322 both carbines with backpacker pump handles,...both with steel breeches  ....I want to leave one with stock barrel and one with at least a 18"....trouble is I cant decide which one to mod...I know the decision is mine, but seeking opinions ...thanks

Well, if it came down to a coin flip I would go with a longer barrel in the smaller caliber. The reason being...the valve charge expands into the barrel volume...if the bore is smaller then the barrel needs to be longer....for equal air expansion. All other things being equal of course.
btw...you're not the only one who can't leave their guns alone  :)

Just another thought....I would & did go with .22. (18")  With a pistol loading .177 doesn't seem so tedious as it does on a carbine. The 13xx guns have the front breech screw which catches the .177 pellets more than it does the larger .22 cal.   My carbine is fitted with a scope and used more for pesting than the pistols and the .22 lead does stop the critters.

Well I ordered parts for a 1322 build from Mr. Mellon......understand that he is a one man band...just have to be patience...got a deal on a 2240 ($30), when it gets here, will be putting together a 1740    And leaving my other 2240 in 22....

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

18in is nice but with ldc attached it can be 24in or longer
14.5" 2250 barrel has worked great in the past with ldc attached 19-20in total

I would do the .22 but I am partial to that caliber.

I too would do .22 cause I like bigger pellets cause they're easier to load and can carry a bigger impact down range.

This is what I ended up with, very accurate ...not as flashy as some....but works for me..    ...only difference now from pic, is it has short brake on it...
Mellon 18" barrel in 22,barrel band and pivot....AC Customs trigger kit and baker shoe...Tasco 4x32..the rest Im sure u recognize...many thanks for the replies..

did you end up doing the .22 or the .177?

Looking good. A flashy shooter that don't shoot straight  is worthless. If it good enough for you that's all that matters, enjoy

My apologies 22....
Good choice.  I love my .22 airguns.  I want to add a couple of .25 to the mix soon.

Your gun looks very similar to mine, I kept the cost down and just made it as a nice back yard shooter. I do have ftv&p coming to up the power a bit for 15-20yrd rat and starling shooting, but that's about it for this gun.

You plan on using this for back yard rats as well as tin cans ?

Mine is pretty much the same except I  put a 1701P trigger frame on mine and currently using a red dot.  I also have a new brass flat top piston and old brass valve, which I will turn into a flat top, to install the next time I tear it down.
