Oive'! Finally have paint sticking to the Carbinated stock.  ??? Not sure what is going on but Rust-O Camo, Rust-O plastic primed/Rust-O Satin Black, Duplicolor primer/topcoat and Plasticote(even with Bulldog adhesion promoter involved) were all DOA. Spent an hour scraping goo, sanding & cleaning then hung it up to dry while I made yet another run to the hardware store. Bought Krylon Ultra Flat Camo w/Fusion and shook the can for the 10 miles back home. Used KleanStrip Paint Prep and repeated 3 times. Rehung the stock and masked the butt pad while it flashed off and dried. Then shook the buhjeebus out of the can for another 5 minutes. Laid down a light mist coat, then again and again 30 seconds between coats...an hour later as per the directions on the can...it IS Dry!? <pats self on the back>  :D 7 days and it should be good to go.
I guess whether or not a paint is going to stick just depends on the price of tea in China, planetary alignments as well as some intestinal fortitude and luck of the draw. No, I have never, ever had an issue painting plastic, metal or fiberglass before(I production painted and did body work in a past life), this was a character building experience. Above all it's in the prep.

It's all in the prep, hope it turns out well .... :-*

A friend of mine who is a professional automotive painter of show cars told me that you spend one hour doing surface preparation and five minutes painting.

I've never wanted something so useless in my life.
