Oiling the tip of a CO2 cartridge

Whenever I load a new CO2 cartridge into one of my guns I always put a drop of Pellgun oil on the tip.  Looking inside the air chamber of my 2240, I thought it would be better to put the oil on the neck of the cartridge (also?) so that the o-ring would be lubed each time.  What are your thoughts?

The tip of the cartridge seals against a gasket on the end of the valve. Oiling the tip is correct.

The tip of the cartridge is what seals it.  There is no Oring sealing.  So only put a SMALL drop on the tip of the cartridge.
IMO Mac1 Secret Sauce is much better than PellOil.

Put one or two drops on the cartridge tip - that will lubricate the seal and the valve internals.  The seal is of a rather flat construction, it is not an o-ring.
