OEM 2300S Muzzle/Post Sight Modification

The Lothar Walther barrel on the 3200S has a flattened area on the distal part of the barrel.  The OEM muzzle/post sight has a set screw on the posterior aspect of the barrel as seen in the image.  Move the sight post proximally, and place the set screw on the anterior of the barrel.  It would now be able to be set in the same position should you remove the component. The end result would allow you to shoot with the Williams sight, and with the Williams off you could co witness the scope or red dot with the post sight.

I don't think I am allowed to modify the LW barrel to accept a 1/2" X 20 muzzle brake, so this modification would leave the barrel intact, allow the OEM muzzle/sight post to be utilized, and facilitate co witnessing...

Yes.  They are not in stock.  If the machinist can use the OEM muzzle, some fluting can be saved.  Do you know if the OEM muzzle is aluminum or stainless steel?

It's anodized aluminum.

My CCS 2400KT in the US came with one, but I never used it.

A friend here in Germany advised me not to modify the LW barrel.  I thought of the idea to modify the OEM muzzle, which would not be a difficult job whatsoever.
The French company's offering looks very nicely machined, and it probably made of steel.  I don't usually settle for second best, so I just sent them a very friendly
e-mail inquiring when they will have the adapter again in stock.  I already have a muzzle brake adapter that is a "slip on", but fitting it necessitates the removal of the
OEM unit...

Being that I will be finishing parts with several PVD TiN colors, Teur Meen in Holland can mirror finish them so they should not show surface flaws.  I have an aluminum
trigger cover, adjustable sear, a roller trigger, and a red dot mount on the way.  I'll be ordering brass tube caps, a stainless breech cap, a brass safety, a stainless steel
extended probe, and brass grip screws, preferably Torx or Allen head. 

Here in Germany the weather is similar to the Northeast U.S.  I'll keep my 2300S in an aluminum pistol case with a container of color change silica gel to keep any oxidation
at bay.

Yes, don't do anything to your barrel.

It's pretty thin to be directly threaded.

The only mod I did to my Crosman LW barrels was to deburr and polish the leade.

My 10" 17xx LW barrel was not very accurate prior to the method.

Whilst chambering the pellet, I would feel the grittiness, especially with H & Ns which is a brand with more antimony compared to JSBs.

Is the LW nicely crowned?  I am asking my guy to deurr the barrel and clean and mirror polish it internally, as well of course externally.  Same for the breech, especially for the throat area.  I don't really think that my specialist needs any coaching as he let me know that polishing is a specialty of his.

If you are really wanting a front sight there's a way to do it.

It would be a sleeve behind your threaded adapter.

They are, but my 17xx also had an infinitesimal burr, so I recrowned it.

It is my 24" .177 Crosman barrel in the PI which is uncannily accurate.

I paired it with a 6-24x40 Bushnell Elite AO mildot scope which is almost 2' long with a sunshade

Assuming the LW barrel is 7/16" like the Crosman barrels, they are easily threaded.

I have threaded them 3/8"x24 tpi and 7/16"x20 tpi   --   both in .22 caliber   --   .177 would, of course, leave more metal.

Hi CraigH. It might not be legal to tamper with the OEM barrel that comes with a specific model, so I will use a "slide on" adapter like all the German air pistols and rifles use.  I know that you can't install longer barrels.  It would be nice if airgun laws were much more iberal like they are in most states in the U.S.
