Watching prices go up

I've been putting off buying a 2240 until I could have it shipped
to a friend outstate.  (I'm in Michigan)
Interestingly the price has moved up twice in last month
Crosman has done away with its lower end 2250
and the 2260 is gone  and they offer the 2250xt and really
no replacement for the 2260
I
a lot of the lower end guns are being dropped through out
alot of line...
One way of dealing with a inflation is going Upscale with
your basic product.
Looks like Crosman is going that route
what do you want to bet the lower end 2300 is gone before long
and we see an upscale 2240 to replace it. or teh 2240 line is gone altogether


Well I better get my 2240 before they do away with it..

Well, as I see it, "upscale" in the 22xx handgun platform has been the 2300T & 2300S, as well as the "U Spec'd Custom Shop" models.  I agree that dropping some of their "bread and butter" designs are not always the best ideas for a Corporation, so seeing the base 2250, 1760 & 2260 models pass, and a (IMHO) bit overpriced 2260SE model remain a little frustating.  On the P A. Blog, Gaylord's testing one of the 2250XEs w/ wood stock, so that's kinda interesting.  It does make one want to place an order for a couple more carbines and pistols, just in case (if you gots the money) however, which isn't right.  

While I appreciate that Crosman has shook up the Pre-charged Pneumatic game, with it's fairly low-end prices and user-friendly features, I can't spring for one myself, nor am I inclined to.

We've seen a change already in the pumps, with the PC77.

What is to question is what may lie in store for consumers.  Are they going to come out with a suitable replacement line, or is the aftermarket going to flourish for those who will continue to embrace and built the 22xx platform models?  I suppose we will have to see.

 I also noticed they dropped the
acc. stock for the 2240 (though they do offer the wood one from the SE.)

(I think its the 1399 not sure.)
you better find one fast.
Funny though This just promotes an aftermarket
business. and under cuts them.   
I really wonder how the "custom" shop is doing for them.
They have offered parts for the 22xx and built up a
acc. store ect. Its kind of like cars
Its more profitable to sell parts than it is to sell the car.
and you can buy a 350 chevy engine that doesnot have one
gm part in it. 
They have no "distributor" problem with their  accessories.
The handle them themselves.
Its really and interesting business study.

you say they are dropping the 2289,1389 stock (if i'm reading this right) ?? it is part of the marauder pistol package so unless thay change that it will stay .as for the "bread and butter" guns i think the 2xxx series as a whole will be safe and they are probably letting guns go that aren't selling well and cutting their loses to bring in future products( hopefully ) . they need to keep the bigbox store guns to keep them alive .anything else are/is big(ger) ticket items(for crosman) that the airgun community wants but won't pay high prices for --- like the euro guns with bigger price tags .that's my take on that atleast

I just check the crosman sight and they are
offering the stock again.
they had it off their list for a few weeks.
maybe just backordered
