2300T vs. 1377 velocity

I just got a couple of LED task lights for my chronograph. They work OK, when combined with mostly inadequate window lighting. I'll have to try them on their own soon, indoors.

Anyway, I found that a stock 1377 at 10 pumps shoots about as hard as a stock 2300T.

Many of you will not be surprised to read that. But to me, all that pumping should have some sort of payoff that can't be bought in the form of CO2.

The velocities were in the 510-520 fps range.

Hopefully, the mods I have coming will remedy this by giving the 1377 a 100 fps advantage at 10 pumps.

Will the only thing i can say is what do you do when you don.t have any Co2s.

If you spend the same money to mod the 2300T that you are spending on your 1377 then the 2300T will still out shoot the 1377.

I'm curious on the topic as well.  I'm building my first gun, a 1377.   Of course I have gun 2, 3 and 4 pondering in my head.  I would like to build a CO2 in the future as well.  What are some number for a well modified 2300, 2400, 2500 vs a 1377?  I mean how high can fpe go in a CO2?  I know you can get a 1377 to 700fpe.

A well-modified 1377 with the original 10" barrel will shoot a bit above 600 fps. (feet-per-second, not foot-lbs.-energy) With a longer barrel, you can probably get up around 700 fps. 700 fpe would probably a 30-06 centerfire rifle. I have hunting fantasies about my 600 fps 1377 loaded with JSB Exact RS 7.3 gr. domed pellets.

I'm sure someone will chime in now and show off their supercharged 800 fps 1377, hehehe.

I'm not sure I'd bother modding a regular single-CO2 Crosman pistol for more power. The Archer QB78, which uses two CO2 powerlets shoots 700 fps in stock form. Partly because of the longer barrel, and partly because of the valving and dual CO2.

I'm debating on whether to get a QB78 or a Beeman R7 for my next and last airgun for a while.

Here's some data I gathered on three box stock 2250b guns with different barrel lengths.  Mind you, these guns all use a single 12 gram powerlet.  With just a little valve work they can easily reach your desired goals.

This data was taken using CPUM pellets weighing 14.5 grains.

My moderately modded 1377's at 10 pumps (603-615 fps) easily outpower a 2300KT (@529 fps) and a 2240 (@426 fps). I like having a decent range of velocities depending upon the number of pumps. The 1377 is a terrific platform for both bling and performance enhancements. For under $150, you can put together a powerful and accurate shooter.

I have decided to leave my CO2 pistol internals stock. I see no reason to up the fps as it wastes CO2, so for plinking and target shooting, I am inclined to find an average velocity that does the job and try to increase the number of usable shots per powerlet. There are plenty of blinging accessories to pretty up any 22xx so they can show nicely.
