Been playing with my 2240 carbine. Its got an 18" barrel, Boss valve, Melon bolt probe and Disco heavy spring.  These are some of the results I got

JSB 13.43 gr

Average of 639 fps for 12.18 FFE

Crosman 14.3 CP

Average of 629 for 12.5 FPE

H&N 14.66

Average of 624 for 12.67 FPE

JSB 15.89

Average of 606 for 12.961 FPE

JSB 18.13

Average of 578 FPS for 13.453 FPE

H&N 21.30 Cuda's

Average of 554 FPS for 14.52 FPE

Did not want to try anything heavier. Figured this 2240 is potent enough for taking squirrels from my yard.

Heck with those numbers your gun is more than adequate for taking suirrels, rabbits and probably racoons. But then it is still all about shot placement.

I've never wanted something so useless in my life.

Still have not had time to shoot some groups. I am pretty confident it will print one ragged hole at 20 yards. Thats what this same gun did before I added the Boss valve, which was the last mod.

In 68 deg temps, in the house, I am getting about 10  shots before its starts to drop off. With the 14.3 CP's shot number 15 was just under 600.

Yeah, I think it would be PLENTY potent for back yard critters.

Perhaps the more relevant question should now be what happens after the pellet passes through the critters or if you miss. ;)

You should consider adding an HDD for your next mod, as it seems to be quite a CO2-thirsty pistol now.

I have an HDD. I'll report back once I have had a chance to shoot some groups as it sits.
