Drumroll -----

The, AK417   ;D Was just thinking about it since they came out with the M417 and it seems fairly popular. And the name even has a nice ring to it. Would it be more technologically difficult from an engineering standpoint? Most probably. Entertaining and commercially successful? Probably.

The rails would be harder since it just has that soviet style one that would cost more to accurately replicate.  ???

With a Crosman barrel, it would certainly shoot better groups than the Kalishkanov!   :P

It looks to me like the air tube would have to be above the barrel.  It would be interesting to see how the trigger mechanism and hammer would would work in that.

I wouldn't mind having an aks-74u variant. Having it in .22 would just be frosting on the cake  ;D
