What do you guys use (stand/rest) when working on your pistols?

Links to buy?

Plans to build?

I made a wood stand but never use it so it became home to my 1322. I have two tables I work on, both having a car floor mat for my work. I usually place a white paper towel on them so I can see small parts. I often thought of a small portable enclosure, even a cut out box to contain flying springs, balls etc. Also I have a portable magnifying glass.

Other than sighting I prefer to lay them down.

Soon I will be getting one just for AG's with a Rotating Hobby Vice/Lighted Magnifying Glass.  Pegboard on back/those little bin's for storage.  But that savings jar isn't there yet!!   Jeff   :-*

That is one that Quickster47 made for me. If it is ok with him, I will take some dimensions and post them for you to make your own. Funny, cause I have had many people aske me to sell that stand to them. May be a marketing opportunity for the Quickster!!

Stands are cool for some thing but I find a portable vice better. a Trick I learned in Camera repair school 20 years ago for things with lots of little parts is to take it apart on a cookie sheet....nothing gets lost that way
The earth without ART is just "eh"

I do all my work on a flannel cloth and then I also have a drawer open to catch the pieces that bounce off it. The cookie sheet idea is a great one, but I don't have enough room on my desk unless I find another place for my toolbox.

The one thing I have been wanting to add to quicksters stand forever is a Velcro strap that would slip between the barrel and tube to hold the base of the gun while doing top end work.

The thing I like about that stand is how clean it looks. Obvious craftsmanship there.

That's why I set up shop downstairs out of the way. There's always someone home and it's tough to concentrate with "dad, dad, dad, dad" in your ear. Make time for the family but have time for yourself as well. A little balance makes allows harmony  :) Also, I can leave stuff out and when I come back to it it's right where I left it, undisturbed  :-*

Yep and it is very simply made. I PM'd Carl to get his thoughts on making a few thousand of these puppies  ;D
Let's give some time for his reply.

I swear you can't believe how many people have asked me to sell them that stand. I had a pistol for sale and I was made an offer on the pistol, but only if the stand was included....and that's no bull. Well, this stand was a gift so it is not for sale and I lost the sale of the pistol to that dude, but all turned out well in the end.

Alrighty then...... I just received the ok to make copies of Quickster's Stand for the 2240 and maybe if the demand is there to adjust dimensions for the 13xx shooters as well. Right now I need to price the wood and screws. figure out a plausible way to make 10 at a time and then figure out costs. Should not be to bad though.

If it is feasible to do, I will ask for a pre-order commitment and then only accept payment once I have your stand ready to ship. That sounds like a fair way to do it. This way, I don't get stuck with a bunch of stands and you don't pay until it's ready.

So even though I don;t have a price right now, I would sure appreciate some input of quantities you might be willing to purchase. This is not a commitment to buy. I'm just doing some market research before I jump fully into this.
Thanks guys............Rich
Here is a pic of the stand holding a stock 2240. One thing I just thought of is that most custom grips are wider than the stock plastic grips, so I would need to know ahead of time if you need a wider opening for them.

I also have one that accomodates the 13XX series of guns.  Will get a picture and post it and also the dimensions and will also cut some pieces next time I'm in the shop.  Read that as when it gets back in the mid 80s temperature wise.  Dang it is hot here.  :)

Fantastic!  When you guys are ready to get into it and want pre orders count me in for 2 stands (?) one for the 1377 and one for the 2240.  Both would be with RB grips, 1377 w/sportsman, 2240 w/ target.  :-*

Yeah, I'm with Carl on the heat thing!! It is pushing 100F today and feels like 110!!!! I will scope out some material tomorrow and come up with a plan. It's so hot right now, that I don;t even want to go out to shoot  :(
