Fine tuning scope parallax

I've been researching adjusting the objective lens on scopes that have no such option.  I primarily shoot targets with my air pistols from 5m.  The reticle is nice and clear, but because the parallax is set for a longer distance, the targets are blurry.  If you're encountering a similar problem, here's an easy fix:

Loosen the locking ring around the front (objective) lens.  Using a toothpick, or another object that won't scratch the lens if you slip, fit it into one of the two small adjustment slots of the lens beneath the locking ring you just loosened, and turn the lens CCW (toward the target...) until your target is in crisp focus at the distance you want to shoot.  Holding the lens from turning with your toothpick, tighten the locking ring, load, sight and shoot at a perfectly in focus target.  RC

How is that working out for you? My concern is breaking the seal and allowing the inert gases inside the scope to exhaust out.

It's working just fine.  Since the lens adjustment turns so effortlessly, I doubt that any seal has been broached.  I've heard from other's whom have done this with, seemingly, no effect to the scope other than the focus.  I know it has saved me plenty from having to buy scopes with an AO, though for my rifle I do use an excellent Bug Buster.  RC
