Yet another attempt to improve a trigger

I tried to order the mrod/1701 grip frame last week but they're out of stock and didn't know when they'd be getting more.  So, back to work on the existing trigger.

This time I'm trying a lighter spring with a guide on the outside.  I also made a small guide to butt up against the sear.   Between the two they pretty much eliminate sideways motion in the spring.  When the trigger is pulled the small guide is tapered to slide into the large guide just a bit without making contact.

It seems to work pretty well.  The trigger is nice and light and breaks fairly crisply.  Chongman was kind enough to send out a real trigger to replace this nasty plastic one and it should be here tomorrow.  I expect that to help remove some of the remaining creep.

Still not great but better than the .22 casing guide I was using.

Nope.  I bought a parts gun and it came with a plastic trigger from some other model.

the only gun i have seen the plastic trigger on is the 1389 although im sure another model sported it too

My phase II 1377 (May 1996) has the plastic trigger.

There's a different style sear?
The one I have is the same as the one in the 1377/PC77B.
The only different sear, that I know, of is the P-Rod sear. Which is a totally different grip frame assembly.

Well my plastic trigger is gone now.  Replaced yesterday.   

I also got a well-timed bag of parts from Crosman yesterday and replaced my modified bolt and stock black bolt handle with the extended bolt and extended bolt handle that come with a 2300S.  The bolt was $3 and the handle $7.  I drilled out the back of the bolt and put a magnet in it like I did for the last one.  Works great holding it open.  I actually drilled it deep enough for two magnets to give a little more holding power.

While I was shooting both my 2240 and 2300S last night I realized that the 2240's trigger has less creep and was smoother than the 2300S.  So today I pulled the spring adjustment nut out of the 2300S, turned another small Delrin guide to butt against the sear, cut another piece of plastic tube for an external guide, and set the trigger of my 2300S up the same as my 2240 (the first post in this thread).  Big improvement and it was pretty good already. 

It's still a simple single-stage trigger but it's vastly superior to the stock trigger and I think it'll hold me over until I can get a 1701P trigger group.

Excellent Jerry!  I'm working on a prototype sear guide myself.  It seems that when I try to use a lighter sear spring the want to lean all over the place.  Your method fixes that quite well.
