Ya, different terms for same items. Muzzle brake is the universally accepted term, as the device "brakes" the barrel from rising on powder burners, not so much on airguns, but useful for weight and some stripping of the air if it has ports.

A device that makes things quiet, can also be called a brake but is not technically such. Those devices are moderators and most commonly known as an LDC (Lead Dust Collector) for lack of a better and non-aggrevating term.
