Just got a 1720 a couple days ago.....cleaned the barrel first, not too dirty. Shot two wad cutters over the chrony: 20 shots each. RWS supermag, 9.3 gr. low 695.9 high 704.3 avg 700.4 es 8.39 sd 3.60. RWS Meisterkugeln 7.0 gr. low 771.7 high 790.8 avg 784.1 es 19.11 sd 7.48. Both are very accurate shooting two handed at 5 meters. I'll shoot from a rest this week and see how that works out.[/b]

Any one have experience with the new 1720?

Nice choice!  I want one!  How about some pics?

Cleaned my 1720 after 250 shots and found that it was not as fouled as my 1377 after the same number of shots using the same pellet. I lube with KRYTECH. Lubing pellets seems logical to me. What is the opinion of other forum members?

I know many guys who swear by lubing their pellets, both to avoid fouling and improve accuracy.  Then again, some of them also take a caliper and measure the head and tails of each and every pellet....sort them by weight, and massage each one etc.  That seems to take the enjoyment out of the whole thing.  But lubing with Krytech...seems like a good idea and pretty simple to do.

I really want a 1720...lets see your new toy!!

Congrats on the new 1720.... :-* :-*

On my want list and up near the top!! Have the 1701 and love it. The 1720 reminds me of the p-rod only for target shooters. But at 700 fps, I think you could easily take out small pests. Do you know if it has the same trigger frame as the 1701 and p-rod??

I think it does have the same frame.

Curious...has anyone tried upping the power on the 1701?

Yes, it can be done and a couple of people have gotten up into the high 600's to low 700's. I have thought about it, but really don't want to mess with this one. It shoots perfect for what I want it for. They got there by a larger TP and heavier spring. One of the post is on the Yellows Crosman/Benjamin Forum. I think all Crosman did was to read that forum and say, "hey, we can do that and call it a 1720!"  ;D

Since they have announced the 1720, I have been back and forth between which I like more; the p-rod and the 1720.  ???  Guess I will have to buy them both  ;)

Same here...sometimes I think I want more power out of the 1701, but then I realize why mess with what's nearly perfect for indoor 10m target shooting?  This thing gets a ton of shots (in the 100 range) and its super accurate (I love the LW barrel).

What would really be great is if they made a p-rod with an LW barrel!

Very nice!!  :-*

So I wonder....can you put the 1720's or the P-rod's shroud on a 1701?
Would the shroud mount, barrel spacer, end cap and tube (with associated o rings) work?  I would think the barrel OD should be the same.  I thought I saw someone had done this on a 1701 that was up for sale on the yellow a while ago.

spider1960

Yes that's right...that was a TKO shroud. I came very close to buying that.
