Yesterday I cut a 3/4'' cpvc pipe tee that clips onto the cart tube of my 2240.   A short piece of pipe connects to a flange screwed to a small board.  This is a steady rest to hold the 2240 when adjusting the sights.

I prefer to set my gun sights by fixing a gun steady and shooting a paper target.  Then with the gun still steady adjust the sights to the shot hole.

So I went to the out side range/garage and shot as many pellets as a 12g powerlet would shoot through my stock 2240 at a temperature of 89.   However I did not put the down post into the steel flange.  I just clamped it into a Black & Decker workmate #79-00.  The 3/4'' cpvc pipe tee held it acceptable to adjust the sights till I ran out of windage.   So I tweaked the front sight  blade a bit.
Could not tell if the sight or the barrel moved.   Reset the peep sight and it all looked good.   Course I had to mess with it some more and tweaked the barrel band grub screws.  Yup the sight window changed and I adjusted peep sight again. 

I learned that it is possible  to the set stock sights on a Crosman 2240 with plastic breech,    but there is a good reason most Crosmaniacs say the first mod should be a metal breech for the best stability.

Put another 40 shots through my 2240 in my stable steady rest.  The sight picture was unchanged with stock 2240 peep sight.

I managed a little time on a small PC77 project.  I reworked the grip frame, polishing all of the contact surfaces, and adding small washers to take up the side-to-side slack in the trigger and sear.  I also added the Alchemy Airwerks adjustable sear spring, which really helped to lighten the trigger pull.  To finish the frame, I added a set of 1701P grips.  I replaced the forearm with a 2289 forearm, and replaced stock valve with an Alchemy Airwerks RP power valve.  T round out the work session, I stuffed the stock piston with 1/8" diameter rods, and added a washer and o-ring to the base of the piston cup.  Once the barrel comes in from the machinist, I will complete the build.

Flipped over my 2240 stock sight to the notch.  Sighted in good at my indoor range/garage  with good lighting.  Not so good in the shade branches of the pecan trees.  I had ordered some light fiber off ebay and three colors to chose from.  Put a short piece on top of the stock front blade sight with super glue.  Did not drill a hole for it in the traditional manner just glued right on top straight.  It came with one end mushroomed with heat on one end and the end was not.  I did hold it up in front of my eye looking at the shadows in the trees.  The mushroomed end obscured to much so I opted to cut both ends square and glue to the front sight.  Sighted in on paper targets and the small red spot is much easier to see and only cost less than three dollars for four pieces.  I wear trifocal glasses and there is no place I can see the front sight and rear sight clear at the same time.    So I am able to put the red light fiber in-between the black fuzzy notch, and put some same hole shots in paper at 24' around the size of $.25.

Started a aluminum rail for 2240 18in BNM Shroud, got to put a sight on it today to finish it up.
Makes it look different, nothing out there like it that I could find. Just like doing mods that have not been done before.
Have to have pictures resized before I can post them.
