Well it seems to me that my time for open sights is nearing the end for me, so what kind and type of a scope, red dot etc is the best for failing eyes ?  :(

I put a Mueller holographic sight on my 1377 and like it. Also on gta forum I ran across a peep sight you stick on your glasses called eye pal at http://www.eyepalusa.com/  I am shocked but it does work. Hope this helps you a little.

I hear ya man.  I prefer the open reflex style.  They usually come with a more precise dot/crosshair.  There are many to choose from at all price points.

The Mueller was a little pricy for an entry level holo site but what I like about it is the auto brightness feature and the cross dot.

if you see well enough go for a millet red dot they come in a 3moa dot cant go wrong at $60

but if your sight isnt well enough maybe a 2x red dot or 2x pistol scope
crosman sells the ncstar pistol scope on their sight get it here at a better price

2x not enough then try this 2-7 pistol scope

I have been wondering the same thing.
Im not sure if I want to mount a scope on my 3576 or try to modify the stock sights for better visibility .  I mounted a scope on the 1077 and have been debating a Franken-sight made from parts of both sets of sights.    Any opinions?

bgmcgee

Why not you never know till you try. If it doesn't work oh well No big loss but on the other hand???

For my old eyes the red dot works great. With cross hair scopes I have to either wear my occupational lenses to keep the cross hairs clear and have an out of focus target or my distant lenses for the opposite. They do make cross hair scopes with adjustable eyepieces for people that wear corrective lenses.

Cant believe no one has suggested Peep sights yet..

Now I have.. cant shoot open irons worth a darn with my ageing sight,
but....
I still do most (nearly all) of my airgun shooting without scopes or red dots
Peep/diopter sights allow me to continue enjoying my airgunning with less clumbersome
and, very accurate sighting systems.

Here is a good link/read about them...
http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/the-envelope-please-my-best-rifle-sight-award-goes-to/

A google or foum search on the more  popular forums will turn up many testamonials about
how the peep aperature will greatly  improve depth of field sight for shooting, just like a
small aperature, f-Stop, on a camera will give more depth of field,  than a larger aperature.

Have fun.. safely.

Great discussion.

Thank you a bunch for that link. I've been having huge issues shooting with iron sights with my lousy eye sight.
Of course I knew about peep sights and tried them as a kid, but now I think they are necessary now and that article motivated me.
