crosman 459 mounts for 2240 are they any good?

im working on closing the deal on a modded 2240 so on the one im getting today i want to keep this one pretty much stock and use it as a learning tool do to mods, i plan on putting a  red dot scope for now but dont want the steel breech just yet will the crosman 459 mounts work ok for just some fun plinking? reviews seem kind of mixed just want you alls expert opinion

I used them for a while and they worked just fine ...

for a BSA red/green/blue dot will that work

They work ok on 2240s if your barrel band is centered and tight. They don't work well on 1377s becuse there is no barrel band and no breech set screw so the barrel can rotate a little under the optic weight.
