Found this nifty little sound meter on the Google market. Its the lite version, they also offer a pro version for $0.99. Thought someone might be interested...

Nifty.

I use a dB meter app for the iPhone. It provides a reasonably good idea of how loud your airgun is at different distances.

On the subject of apps.
Has anyone tried "chrono connect", if so, how accurate is it?
It would be good to know if somebody with a proper chronograph had done a comparison with it.
It requires accurate distances between muzzle to phone, then phone to a metal target, to calculate fps of pellet.
In theory it could be as accurate as a proper chrony, IF, you are exact with your distances.

CC worked good for me. The results came out accurate for my 1377.
I used a 1377 (no power mods except a 12" barrel), CPHP 7.9's and did two 5 shot strings:

5 pumps

FPS                                  FtLb.
459                                   3.7
459                                   3.7
454                                   3.6
459                                   3.7
457                                   3.7

10 pumps

549                                   5.3
540                                   5.1
545                                   5.2

Cheers Tater,
I've modded my pc77, to a .22 carbine with,
14" barrel
FT valve
Hollow flow through bolt
Reduced valve capacity

And wanted an idea of what difference it has made, so once i have done "accurate" tests i should have an idea of what's what.
I've only had a couple of guess-timates so far.

There is a Youtube video of the ChronoConnect on an phone/tablet sitting next to a Chrony. The results were within a few fps if I remember correctly.

This app is only good for airguns (I think) as it measures the muzzle blast and the target impact to get results. At least that is how I understand it.

Thanks Arkmaker,
Just had a look at the youtube vids, looks to be fairly accurate if used correctly.
That will do for me, don't want to buy a proper chrony.

I am going to try it out right now and see if it is in the ball park or not. Not going to set up the chrony as I already know what the 1701P shoots. Will post some results later.

For what it's worth, I measured off 27' to shoot from and place the Android phone exactly half way in between. I shoot at an empty beer can that was hanging in my pellet trap for noise.

Very cool. I look forward to seeing how accuracy it is compared to the real deal. Please do post the distance you shot from.

I've been using the SoundLevel Pro version for several months and must say it works great.  Especially when you are playing around with muzzle brakes and LDC devices.  The history/graphing feature is so helpful.
