That is a fascinating situation (tamper with an OEM barrel).   And yet, as I understand it, moderators are legal (on airguns and firearms) without permit in Europe.   Unlike in the US where a tax stamp ($$) and waiting for BATF to run a background check are required.

I bring up the last sentence, since while airgun moderator ownership has been adjudicated, issues still come up on occasion.

The main thing here (USA) is (should be) do not make the devices with 1/2"x28tpi threads.    I define "devices" as moderators and adapters.   And while staying within these bounds, occasionally one hears of the BATF expressing that if an airgun-legal moderator were to be adapted with airgun-legal threading to a firearm and function (to destruction) only once it is an illegal act.

Apologies if this is a bit "in the weeds", since none of us do such things.  And I state this with sincerity, not with any effort to be cute.
