Yet another attempt to improve a trigger

Excellent Jerry!  I'm working on a prototype sear guide myself.  It seems that when I try to use a lighter sear spring the want to lean all over the place.  Your method fixes that quite well.

You can also use a modified (spent) .22lr case.

Exactly what was happening to me.  I like the spring adjuster in the 2300S but you have to use a really heavy spring or it just distorts and adds creep. 

Ideally I'd like my external guide to be taller so it covers the full length of the spring with a slot for the sear to drop into when the trigger is pulled but there's a lot of slop in the sear and not much space to work in in that upper 1/4" area where the sear and spring make contact.

I think my 2240 has around a 1 lb pull now with almost no creep.   It's getting to the point where I'm wondering if it's worth the $30-40 to swap in a 1701P trigger group.   Having a Rekord trigger in my HW30 and an exceptional trigger in the Izzy 46 I know what excellent triggers feel like and while these Crosman trigger will never be excellent the fact that I can now shoot them without thinking about the trigger is a huge improvement.

I'll be very interested to see what you're working on.  Having seen a sample of the detailed models you've done I can see you coming up with something more elegant than my fix.

A .22 casing was one of my early attempts.  Much better than stock but a lighter spring still distorts where the casing ends. 

I just realized what you meant.  Big duh on my part.  Yeah, you could cut down a .22 casing in place of my Delrin guide.

The creep from the seer/spring is the final goal for me overcome.  I have that DC Machine roller trigger in my 2300KT and it feels like butter. Right at the end of travel, just before the hammer releases, there's the creep that takes away from the smoothness of the trigger.

Can't say enough about the 1701P trigger. Just so darn sweet compared to a 2240 or 1377. Put your order in today. It is worth the wait and the extra work as Carl outlined in his posts.

I can't remeber how bad the stock trigger was, except for the stiff sear spring, since I've modded my triggers!
